REVIEW: Time4Learning.com

My oldest son recently had the opportunity to review this website. He is in the 6th grade. I'll tell you his thoughts on Time4Learning.com first, and then I will give you my thoughts! He said it was awesome! After asking him to elaborate, he said he loved the interactive things. He is a visual learner also, so this worked out great for him! He would eagerly do his schoolwork on his own, without me telling him too! I would often hear him laughing, he thought it was funny and cool! The most important thing about it was many times he covered a topic that wasn't covered in his class at public school. So not only was he getting a review on some subjects, he was learning important new facts!

Now what did I think of it? As a parent that has a very strict guideline of what is important in educational studies, I have to say that I was impressed with Time4Learning.com! Not only did my 6th grader enjoying watching the videos, but so did I! I would sit with him and watch many of the videos, it never seemed like tedious work, just fun! As a parent, I greatly enjoyed that I could sign into the account and make out lesson plans and print off extra assignments that corresponded with the subject matter covered that day! I got to review his quiz scores, work completed and also got to monitor his time spent on the website's virtual playground! The joy of the website is the laid out lessons that you can customize yourself. You can do as many as you want for the day and week.

The only tiny negative I have to say that is if you do use it entirely for Homeschooling, I would supplement some additional things, like handwriting, and of course additional reading. Not much of a negative! I love this website! It's great for Homeschoolers, or even for kids that need that extra reinforcement after school. I highly recommend this. It's one of the easiest, and funnest educational websites that I've found on-line. It has a very affordable, low monthly price that is sure to fit into everyone's budget.

School...

School is starting back up in a week. I won't be attending college for the spring semester. Part of me is sad, part of me is relieved. Although I whined and complained about all the work, it really wasn't that bad, school wise, just very time consuming. I got A's in 3 of my 4 classes, and got a B+ in the last one, I was actually only 1 point away from having 4 A's! I realized that this is Evan's last year home with me (tears filling my eyes!) and I want to enjoy what little time we have left together. He starts K this fall and I don't want the next few months spent with him playing around and me doing homework on the computer. There's plenty of time for me to finish my degree, but I will never get this time back with him!
My kids are growing up on me too quickly! I don't want to look back in 10 years and say I wish I did this differently when I know I should be doing it differently now!

I never heard anybody say on their death bed that they wish they spent more time at work or in school, instead you always here about people saying I wish I spent more time with my family.

Some part of me wishes we would go back to the 50's mindset where when you had kids you were expected to stay at home with them and just raise them, not like nowadays where you're expected to do everything else under the sun but stay home with your kids. Society puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on stay at home Mom's. We're made to feel guilty if we stay at home, like we're just lazy or we're wasting all of our time and talents. Just think of all this stuff you could have if only you worked too, a big house, fancy cars, 1st class vacations, ____________________ you fill in the blank. But I ask you, at what cost?

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm not Super Woman, I can't do it all! Raising kids is a FULL time job and no I can't have my cake and eat it too! MMM, did somebody mention cake? LOL!

So I guess I will be a drop out in the eyes of society for not finishing my degree right now, but it's not the eyes of society that looks at me with the utmost love every day and the little arms that wrap around me and I hear I love you Mommy! Now that's what counts as being successful to me! My 4 little people God blessed me with, that's what I want to invest my time and energy into!

I guess I went a wee bit off the title post about school, LOL!

Parent/Teacher Conferences...

I had a parent/teacher meeting last night for my 7 yr old Nicholas. He is in the 2nd grade. I know most of you probably wouldn't agree with me, but I'm one of those parents that just love parent/teacher conference's! It's a time when I get to go here someone else (that is non-family) brag incessantly about my sweet boy! So for 15-20 minutes I hear how wonderful he is, how incredible he is, how perfect of a student he is, how they wish they had a whole room full of students, yep, you guessed it, just like him! This occurs yearly with both of my kids, Nathan and Nicholas. Remember, these aren't my words or their Grandma's words (although we do think it!), this is a teacher speaking so wonderfully about my children. Not to mention he is already reading beyond his grade level and same in math!!

So if you think I'm bragging, well I'm definitely bragging!!
